Candid NCIS: LA 5x19 thoughts after initial viewing:
+ Nelll’s serious-don’t-mess-with-me-I-am-briefing-you moment was HILARIOUSLY BAD. I don’t know if it was the writing, the acting, or my general dislike of her character. But really.
+ ‘Mr Deeks is emotionally involved’ says Hetty. ‘We all are’ says Sam. BAHA. Oh, Sam, you just don’t get it. I am not sure he even really gets it when Hetty says Deeks involvement is ‘a different circumstance’. T
hen again, it seems Sam isn’t sure if he has one kid or two so we can’t expect much.
+ ECO was phenomenal. His sad face kills me.
+ Deeks’ reactions in this episode were perfectly written and perfectly acted. See about.
+ ‘Blood’ says Sam. Ya think?
It’s not strawberry jam, dude.
+ Bit confused and unsure about the Jack storyline. Feels a bit ill-conceived in some regards. But whatever.
+ How come Callen didn’t get a funny hat.
Did COD say no way, Jose?
+ Deeks rocked the scarf.
+ Callan’s plan was not exactly well thought out.
+ WHY WAS THAT DUDE STANDING UP WHEN IT WAS OBVIOUS THEY WERE ABOUT TO SHOOT?
Didn’t learn anything from Kate Todd.
+ Deeks says Kensi is the person he cares about most in the world. Obvi, as Shoshanna would say. But still so nice to hear it.
+ Not sure about the Deeks and Kensi reunion with them walking past each other. It was a clever way to add to the pain of their separation and longing, but it was a tad anticlimactic. I think it threatened to take away from their later scene. Don’t think it necessarily did, but hard to know.
+ LOVE THE HUGS. HIS HAND ON HER HEAD. ADHGMBCFSWDHJK.
+ Right at the end, before the second hug, why did they have shots of Kensi looking at Jack? It wasn’t like a ‘alas, goodbye again my lost love’ moment! It was a Deeks and Kensi moment, with Kensi letting go of the emotion of the trauma that she’d been through. It wasn’t about Jack, right?? Right??
+ Means a lot that she cried in front of Deeks. That THAT was the moment she let go.
+ Daniela was exceptional.
+ I think the continuity in Kensi’s lip wound was a teeny bit off.
+ It was so good that I barely noticed Nell’s irksome fringe, which I notice every week.
+ I hope Kensi isn’t magically fine and dandy next week.
Don’t be like Criminal Minds with JJ’s abduction.
